The weather is beautiful, your schedule is open and a friend is eager to go on a day-trip. You want to grab your stuff and go.
You throw your stuff into a backpack, but you're not entirely sure what to take. You wonder what you might be forgetting. Then the distractions: the weather looks less inviting, the phone rings, someone knocks on the door. The more time you take the more frequently your hiking buddy looks at their watch. This simple act is taking longer than expected. You become frustrated and the thought of doing something else starts to creep into your mind.

This checklist works for the folks at GlyphGuy and covers most day-trip needs. However, you might need an item, or live in an area that requires something we do not have listed. You are responsible for modifying the checklist to include items that maximize the safety, comfort and security of each individual in your group.
